CHICAGO — Israel continues its attacks on Lebanon, Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Additionally, newly obtained documents reveal that far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir blocked and delayed various data regarding Israeli settler attacks on the Al-Aqsa mosque; data that is supposed to be publicly available.
In Gaza…
Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced Monday that the death toll from Israel’s genocide on Gaza has risen to 72,941, with 172,967 injured since Oct. 7, 2023. Medical officials noted these numbers may be a conservative estimate, as many victims remain trapped under rubble in blocked-off areas. Medical sources add that hospitals across the Gaza Strip have taken in 40 injured in the past 24 hours alone.
Near the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, an Israeli airstrike targeted and killed an unidentified individual riding a bike. Later that day, the Israeli occupation forces set fire to dozens of homes and properties east of the Jabalia refugee camp. This coincides with an ongoing assault on the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
A child was injured Monday evening when Israeli drones opened fire on civilians southeast of the Al-Bureij camp in the Strip. Israeli naval vessels also fired shells towards the Gaza City shoreline. The Israeli occupation forces also blew up several structures in the northeastern areas of Khan Yunis, amid continued military escalation in the region.
In Lebanon…
In southern Lebanon, the Israeli army issued orders to residents of nine towns and villages to evacuate, as the occupation forces plan to conduct strikes in the area. As the Israeli invasion of Lebanon continues, more than 1.2 million people, about a fifth of Lebanon’s population, have been displaced. More than 3,400 people have been killed, nearly 10,400 people injured and over 1,400 buildings destroyed since March 2.
The following towns have been ordered to evacuate:
Al-Aqbiya
Zrariyeh
Marwaniyeh
Snaybir
Najjariyeh
Ad-Doussieh in the Sidon district
Mlita
Kfar Houneh
Kherbet Bassal
No further details regarding the nature of the strikes or a timeframe for its execution.
These warnings come at a time when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs, expanding current ground operations in Southern Lebanon.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said an airstrike targeting the town of Deir al-Zahrani killed eight people and wounded 19 others. Overnight raids on the town of Kfarsir killed three Lebanese citizens.
However, later on Monday, US President Donald Trump declared that Israel and Hezbollah agreed to cease hostilities. Trump claims Prime Minister Netanyahu promised to halt sending troops to Beirut’s southern suburbs, with Hezbollah also agreeing to halt hostilities.
Iranian officials said talks of a ceasefire with the US and Iran could fall apart due to Israel’s actions in Lebanon.
This situation is developing as this is being reported.
In the occupied West Bank…
South of Nablus early Monday morning, the Israeli occupation forces stormed the central vegetable market in Beita, forcing shop owners to remove their goods and produce. Israeli bulldozers began demolishing the stalls afterwards.
East of Nablus, the Israeli occupation forces raided the Askar refugee camp, storming homes and ransacking their contents. Later that day, Israeli colonists attacked the town of Burin, south of Nablus. Colonists harassed a Palestinian farmer, but were forced back when confronted by local residents.
On land for agriculture in Nablus and Ramallah, Israeli colonists carried out several attacks, burning the land and its olive trees, preventing residents from accessing their land.
Later that day, Israeli colonists set fire to several olive trees between the town of Turmus Ayya and the village of Abu Falah. The Israeli occupation forces later stormed the area to protect the colonists and prevented Palestinian firefighting crews from reaching the area to treat the fire.
North of Jericho, near the town of Al-Auja, Israeli colonists created a new settlement outpost, bringing equipment and conducting land-clearing operations. Hassan Mleihat, general supervisor of the Al-Baidar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, noted there are seven pastoral colonial outposts in the region, all of which are illegal under international law.
South of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces raided the towns of Al-Zababdeh and Ya’bad. Soldiers broke in, fired sound bombs and searched several homes. No detentions were reported in the operation so far.

An internal Israeli police document reveals that far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir delayed or blocked the publication of data related to crimes and armed offenses at the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli settlers.
Six months ago, Ben-Gvir implemented a new policy requiring officers to refer to him any information requests submitted to the police. The document shows 119 information requests submitted over the past two years. Many of these requests were delayed for months or never granted.
In a statement made by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, Palestinian prisoner Azmi Nader Abu Helil, who has been detained since January 2024, has deteriorated in health and is in need of urgent treatment.
In April last year, Abu Helil was infected with scabies, with his condition apparent. When asked for medical treatment, Abu Helil was shot at with rubber bullets. He has undergone blood tests but has been denied information on the results. His lawyer’s requests for clarification and treatment have gone unanswered.
Abu Helil is among thousands of detainees infected with scabies. These prisons contain poor hygiene conditions, a lack of cleaning supplies and a lack of clean clothes, which contribute to the spread of the skin disease. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society has called on the World Health Organization and international human rights organizations to immediately intervene to stop the systematic medical abuse against prisoners.
Northeast of Ramallah in the town of Turmus Ayya, Israeli colonists installed several caravans and sheds on land it had previously bulldozed and stripped of its olive trees. These installments are a part of larger operations to expand colonial outposts, which have uprooted hundreds of olive trees and led to attacks on agricultural land.
