CHICAGO— After the US military conducted strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic military position, Iran launched an attack that targeted Kuwait’s international airport. In Lebanon, the Israeli occupation forces continue to launch attacks on its southern suburbs, at a time when Iran has made it clear negotiations will not continue if Israel does not end its illegal invasion of Lebanon, which has garnered wide condemnation from the international community. Violence continues in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, as Israeli occupation forces continue to conduct strikes on central Gaza, and Israeli settler violence causes significant damage to Palestinian farmland.

US-Israeli War on Iran

On Tuesday, Iran's chief negotiator with the US, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, spoke with his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri.

“If the crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon continue, we will not only halt the dialogue process, but also stand firmly against them,” he told Berri.

Following heated talks between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump claimed both Hezbollah and the Israeli occupation forces agreed to halt hostilities, with Netanyahu agreeing not to send troops to Beirut. Shortly after, Israel continued to carry out attacks on southern Lebanon, resulting in Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran's national security committee, joining other top officials in a public warning.

“If the attacks against Lebanon do not stop completely, the consequences will be severe for the Zionist regime and US forces in the region,” Azizi said. “They are fully aware that this is not an empty threat, and we are prepared for a military response.”

Later that afternoon, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio testified before Congress for the first time since the US began its war on Iran. Rubio claims the US has been “highly successful,” and continued that the US will not remove sanctions in exchange for a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Today, there is no Iranian navy. There is no such thing. It lies at the bottom of the ocean,” Rubio said.

On Wednesday morning, the US military carried out strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island under the pretext of self-defense. These strikes came after US forces hit an Iranian tanker, and Iran retaliated with strikes on a US-Israeli vessel.

Shortly after, Iran launched an attack that killed one and injured 63 in Kuwait in a strike on its international airport. Later, the Kuwait Defense Ministry said it had intercepted 13 ballistic missiles and 17 drones since dawn.

Iran made clear in a statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that oil tankers that veer from the Iran-approved route will be targeted. On Tuesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said 24 commercial vessels were able to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. These ships obtained permission and coordinated with the IRGC Navy.

Gulf nations, Lebanon and the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, have condemned these attacks on Kuwait, as well as ongoing attacks on Bahrain, with Abbas expressing solidarity with Kuwait in a phone call with its Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

In Gaza…

As Israel continues its genocide in Gaza, the death toll rises to 72, 945 Palestinians, 173,011 injured and more buried under the rubble.

According to the World Food Programme, 600,000 Palestinian families’ personal information, containing ID, mobile numbers and location data, was exposed to unauthorized actors. This data came from a self-registration application for Palestine, which allowed Palestinians to receive food and cash assistance after verification.

The Gaza Health Ministry said three Palestinians have been killed and 35 wounded in the Gaza Strip from Israel’s genocidal war. Since the October “ceasefire,” Israel has killed 936 Palestinians, injured 2,903, and 781 bodies have been pulled from the rubble.

Near the Al-Maghazi refugee camp, two Palestinians were killed and four were wounded after an Israeli drone strike targeted the area. Medical sources reported that one of the injured is in critical condition.

In Lebanon…

As Israeli forces continue their invasion and attacks on southern Lebanon, despite Trump claiming an end to hostilities, the total death toll since March 2 rises to 3,516 killed and 10,674 injured.

Early Tuesday morning, Hezbollah issued a statement detailing 41 attacks throughout the prior day, in response to Israel’s violation of the ceasefire agreement and ongoing assault on civilian areas in southern Lebanon. These attacks, mostly rocket barrages and drone strikes, were aimed at Israeli forces along the border and inside northern Israel.

In a UN Security Council meeting, a majority of council members condemned Israel’s occupation of Lebanon and the escalation of its invasion. Council members said these recent assaults violate Lebanon’s sovereignty as a state and its territorial integrity. Then, the US ambassador took a different stance.

“The path is clear. Hezbollah stops attacking Israel,” the ambassador said. “The Lebanese armed forces and the legitimate government of Lebanon assert control over Lebanese territory. And Iran stops using Lebanon as a forward operating base.”

After Trump claimed an end to hostilities, following what has been described as the worst conversation between him and Netanyahu, Israeli occupation forces continued attacks in southern Lebanon, hitting the villages of Shukin and Kafr Tibnit, with drone strikes hitting the town of Talllet Tol.

In a drone attack in southern Lebanon, a dentist and his son and daughter were killed while they were driving from Sidon. Theodossia James Karam was in that car and was a student at Lebanon’s public university. The Lebanese University issued a public statement postponing exams and maintaining that students unable to attend due to security reasons will not face academic punishment.

Tuesday morning, the Israeli military said it intercepted two projectiles launched from Lebanon into Israeli territory. Israeli forces carried out more attacks in southern Lebanon, conducting air strikes on the town of Mahmoudiyeh and the city of Nabatieh, with drone strikes hitting the town of Sarafina and raids carried out in the towns of Jibshit and Ansar.

After an attack on a plant nursery, at least four people were killed. The death toll from a prior strike carried out on the Jabal Amel Hospital in Tyre has risen to four killed and 50 wounded.

“Nothing can justify the continuation of military operations and Israel’s prolonged occupation deep inside Lebanese territory,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said.

On Tuesday morning, the Israeli military issued another warning to residents in southern Lebanon before planned attacks on Nabatieh.

Two Israeli soldiers were wounded after a retaliatory strike from Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Over the weekend, two Israeli soldiers were killed, bringing the number to 26 soldiers killed since Israel’s invasion of Lebanon in March. Since the conflict began three months ago, four Israeli citizens have also been killed.

Despite threats from Iran to pull out from negotiations if Israel does not end its violence in Lebanon, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said military operations will continue in southern Lebanon. Katz even hinted at the possibility of additional operations along the border.

In a residential building destroyed by Israel in southern Lebanon, six bodies and three injured were recovered. However, an attack on the town of Marwaniyeh killed six people, including a woman and two children.

Tuesday afternoon, at least four people were killed by a recent Israeli attack on the Tyre district in southern Lebanon, with an attack on the Burj Shamali municipality killing two people and injuring 14. An air raid on Shehour killed two people.

Early Wednesday morning, Hezbollah launched 13 attacks against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah said barrages focused on Israeli forces positioned around the historic Beaufort Castle within the town of Biyyada.

In the al-Hawsh area in the Tyre district, six were killed by two Israeli drone strikes. In the Al Ain neighborhood, an Israeli drone strike killed paramedic Ali Salman Nader. In the Tyre district, an ambulance was targeted by an Israeli air strike, killing two paramedics and critically injuring another. In the al-Zahrani area, Israeli drone forces conducted raids on the towns of Kaoithariyat al-Ruz and Mayfadoun.

In the Bint Jbeil area, the Tebnine Hospital and its vicinity were struck, killing five people, including a doctor and health care workers, and injuring 48.

The Israeli army ordered more forced displacements in southern Lebanon, as it continues to expand its ground invasion. Residents living in Sidon, Maze’at Kawkariya al Riz and al-Zrariya were told to leave their homes immediately and to move north of the Zahrani River.

On a main highway that connects the capital to southern Lebanon, an Israeli drone hit a vehicle; no casualties reported as this is written.

In the occupied West Bank…

On Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces issued an order to seize 42 dunums of land that belonged to the village of Taysir, east of Tubas, under the pretext of “military purposes.”

West of Bethlehem, Israeli occupation forces closed the main entrance to the village of Hussan, using earth mounds and stone blocks. Rami Hamamreh, head of the Hussan Village Council, said occupation forces unleashed toxic gas canisters and sound bombs at villagers, with no injuries reported.

East of Tubas, Israeli occupation forces raided the village of Tayasir early Wednesday morning.

North of Jerusalem, Israeli occupation forces demolished a home and a commercial workshop in the town of Jaba. This building housed two families and stood for 11 years. A week earlier, Israeli authorities imposed a 10,000 shekel fine on the owner, which was paid.

Southeast of Bethlehem, Israeli colonists attacked homes in the village of Al-Maniya, hurling stones at buildings and people. So far, no injuries have been reported as this is being written.

South of Nablus, in the town of Qusra, local sources reported a group of Israeli colonists had attacked poultry farms. Near the village of Taybeh, east of Ramallah, colonists harassed residents and unleashed livestock towards residential areas. Armed Israeli colonists from the Adora Settlement, built on Palestinian land, set fire to farmland east of Idhna.

West of Hebron, in the town of Idhna, occupation forces conducted raids and issued stop-work and construction orders against two homes. Israeli occupation authorities also issued the demolition and construction halt orders for homes in the town of Yatta. Northeast of Jerusalem, Israeli forces shut down the entrance to the town of Hizma and then conducted raids on commercial shops with no detentions reported.

CHICAGO — Israel continues its attacks on Lebanon, Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Additionally, newly obtained documents reveal that far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir blocked and delayed various data regarding Israeli settler attacks on the Al-Aqsa mosque; data that is supposed to be publicly available.

In Gaza…

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced Monday that the death toll from Israel’s genocide on Gaza has risen to 72,941, with 172,967 injured since Oct. 7, 2023. Medical officials noted these numbers may be a conservative estimate, as many victims remain trapped under rubble in blocked-off areas. Medical sources add that hospitals across the Gaza Strip have taken in 40 injured in the past 24 hours alone.

Near the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, an Israeli airstrike targeted and killed an unidentified individual riding a bike. Later that day, the Israeli occupation forces set fire to dozens of homes and properties east of the Jabalia refugee camp. This coincides with an ongoing assault on the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

A child was injured Monday evening when Israeli drones opened fire on civilians southeast of the Al-Bureij camp in the Strip. Israeli naval vessels also fired shells towards the Gaza City shoreline. The Israeli occupation forces also blew up several structures in the northeastern areas of Khan Yunis, amid continued military escalation in the region.

In Lebanon…

In southern Lebanon, the Israeli army issued orders to residents of nine towns and villages to evacuate, as the occupation forces plan to conduct strikes in the area. As the Israeli invasion of Lebanon continues, more than 1.2 million people, about a fifth of Lebanon’s population, have been displaced. More than 3,400 people have been killed, nearly 10,400 people injured and over 1,400 buildings destroyed since March 2.

The following towns have been ordered to evacuate:

  • Al-Aqbiya

  • Zrariyeh

  • Marwaniyeh

  • Snaybir

  • Najjariyeh

  • Ad-Doussieh in the Sidon district

  • Mlita

  • Kfar Houneh

  • Kherbet Bassal

No further details regarding the nature of the strikes or a timeframe for its execution.

These warnings come at a time when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs, expanding current ground operations in Southern Lebanon.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said an airstrike targeting the town of Deir al-Zahrani killed eight people and wounded 19 others. Overnight raids on the town of Kfarsir killed three Lebanese citizens.

However, later on Monday, US President Donald Trump declared that Israel and Hezbollah agreed to cease hostilities. Trump claims Prime Minister Netanyahu promised to halt sending troops to Beirut’s southern suburbs, with Hezbollah also agreeing to halt hostilities.

Iranian officials said talks of a ceasefire with the US and Iran could fall apart due to Israel’s actions in Lebanon.

This situation is developing as this is being reported.

In the occupied West Bank…

South of Nablus early Monday morning, the Israeli occupation forces stormed the central vegetable market in Beita, forcing shop owners to remove their goods and produce. Israeli bulldozers began demolishing the stalls afterwards.

East of Nablus, the Israeli occupation forces raided the Askar refugee camp, storming homes and ransacking their contents. Later that day, Israeli colonists attacked the town of Burin, south of Nablus. Colonists harassed a Palestinian farmer, but were forced back when confronted by local residents.

On land for agriculture in Nablus and Ramallah, Israeli colonists carried out several attacks, burning the land and its olive trees, preventing residents from accessing their land.

Later that day, Israeli colonists set fire to several olive trees between the town of Turmus Ayya and the village of Abu Falah. The Israeli occupation forces later stormed the area to protect the colonists and prevented Palestinian firefighting crews from reaching the area to treat the fire.

North of Jericho, near the town of Al-Auja, Israeli colonists created a new settlement outpost, bringing equipment and conducting land-clearing operations. Hassan Mleihat, general supervisor of the Al-Baidar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, noted there are seven pastoral colonial outposts in the region, all of which are illegal under international law.

South of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces raided the towns of Al-Zababdeh and Ya’bad. Soldiers broke in, fired sound bombs and searched several homes. No detentions were reported in the operation so far.

An internal Israeli police document reveals that far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir delayed or blocked the publication of data related to crimes and armed offenses at the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli settlers.

Six months ago, Ben-Gvir implemented a new policy requiring officers to refer to him any information requests submitted to the police. The document shows 119 information requests submitted over the past two years. Many of these requests were delayed for months or never granted.

In a statement made by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, Palestinian prisoner Azmi Nader Abu Helil, who has been detained since January 2024, has deteriorated in health and is in need of urgent treatment.

In April last year, Abu Helil was infected with scabies, with his condition apparent. When asked for medical treatment, Abu Helil was shot at with rubber bullets. He has undergone blood tests but has been denied information on the results. His lawyer’s requests for clarification and treatment have gone unanswered.

Abu Helil is among thousands of detainees infected with scabies. These prisons contain poor hygiene conditions, a lack of cleaning supplies and a lack of clean clothes, which contribute to the spread of the skin disease. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society has called on the World Health Organization and international human rights organizations to immediately intervene to stop the systematic medical abuse against prisoners.

Northeast of Ramallah in the town of Turmus Ayya, Israeli colonists installed several caravans and sheds on land it had previously bulldozed and stripped of its olive trees. These installments are a part of larger operations to expand colonial outposts, which have uprooted hundreds of olive trees and led to attacks on agricultural land.
